· 11 FEBRUARY, 2005
· Call to order @ 7:35 by Glen Lee, President.
· 24 in attendance.

OLD BUSINESS

· Expo of Kashubian Typical Art: Vlad Kaczynski made a proposal to bring an Expo of Kashubian Typical Art to Seattle. Would include an exchange of cultural dancing and performance. Possible exchange idea is Native American tribe. Vlad will provide a list of contacts in Gdynia for exchange. While the Trade Delegation is in Gdynia in May, Glen will follow up on contacts and start talks.

· Upcoming Trips:
Trade Delegation (May 21 – 24)
25th Solidarity Anniversary (28 – 31 August)
· Martha and Paul to give more details as date approaches
· Start in Poland to commemorate Solidarity
· Finish in Dresden and into Berlin to commemorate fall of Berlin Wall
· Gdynia Film Festival (mid Sept, 2nd Monday?)
· Open seat available

· Business Exchange: The Trade Development Alliance presented a letter to request a marketing trip to Gdynia following their trip to Ireland – May 21 through 24. Gdynia had been interested in learning more about port security, and Glen and Mike have been successful in finding a person who is willing to attend and speak about this topic.
· Glen will write up itinerary of events
· Once itinerary is available, word should be spread throughout the Polish community
· Open to anyone who would like to attend

· The Salmon Sculpture is here! Application is in place to have statue shown at City Hall; hope to display there for about a month. Glen will contact Gdynia to see how early the statue can be accepted, and Ron will take care of shipping. Dedication ceremony is slated for 22 May, depending on City of Gdynia staff.

· Art School Exchange: Available for students ages 14 – 25 chance to bring Gdynia student to Seattle to study at an art school. Cindy has been working on contacting local schools, but so far none have been willing to participate (mainly due to issue of tuition). Search will continue; if schools are not interested, apology letter will be sent to Gdynia and we can work on this again next year.
· Possibility of sending instructor instead of student

· Sister City Reception: Held on 27 April at City Hall at 5:30pm. Four Sister Cities are being honored. Each is asked to bring entertainment and a representative from sister-country. Glen was able to secure the Consul General, who will come and talk to the delegation for a few moments at the reception, and our entertainment will be provided by the Polish Choir. Reception is asking that each Sister City provide one item (approx $300 - $800 in value) be donated for auction.
· Possible reception for Consul General on the Sunday before or the Friday after the Film Festival.
· Goal is 20 – 25 member attendance

· Media: We would like to set up an instant email list of activities between Sister City communities, but the Sister City coordinator has not responded on progress yet. One of the Sister City managers, Margaret Larson, has been approached in helping us organize this.

· Treasurer's Report: City gave us an allotment of $1,700…so our coffers have increased.
· Paul noted that Senator Murray is forming talks and seminars throughout the state on how to apply for Federal grants.

· Secretary’s Report: Motion to accept the minutes as reviewed. Seconded. Passed.

· Polish Film Festival: Runs April 23 – May 1 at the Seattle Art Museum.
· Advertisers/Sponsors: Cindy is working on a letter to be sent out to past advertisers (and potential new advertisers) asking them if they’d like to participate again. These letters will be followed up by phone calls from Cindy and Debra. Ron has written a letter for past sponsors (and potential new sponsors) requesting donations.
· Reception: Financials must be explored. Krys will call Seattle Art Museum for more information regarding availability and catering pricing. From there, a cost analysis can be made and a price per ticket can be set. Reception should be open to anyone who donates $150 or more (increase of $50 from previous Film Festival).
· Media: Seattle Art Museum has a magazine/newsletter; this would generate a wider market and advertising base if used. 5 x 7” and 8 x 10” flyers of the official Film poster have been printed up; at the next meeting, each member will take a handful to distribute at popular spots in their neighborhoods.

· Announcements: On Monday, 14 February, at 8:00pm the Consulate General’s Assistant for Economic Development is in town and speaking at the Dom Polski. Additionally, on Tuesday morning (15 February), he will also attend a meeting at the Trade Development Alliance – all are welcome.
