OLD BUSINESS

•  T-Shirts: Members agreed to delay decision to produce SGSCA tee-shirt until May. Richard Clark (?) volunteered to purchase items through Café Press with the Polish Film Festival logo on it in order to set up a display table at the Festival to promote purchases.

•  Business Exchange : Glen Lee is talking with the International Development office at Starbucks about joining the trade delegation visiting Gdynia on May 21-24. He has recruited both public and private sector representatives to join in the exchange including: SGSCA members, Port of Seattle, Seattle City Councilmember, Boeing, Des Moines City Councilmember, Seattle Finance Department, and possibly EarthTek (?)

•  U.S. Ambassador to Poland Victor Ashe is interested in meeting our Seattle delegation in Gdynia .

•  Salmon Sculpture: Artist Louise McDowell and several SGSCA members had photos taken with Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels in front of the statue (see website for viewing) at City Hall. Then the statue was successfully shipped to Gdynia . Seattle City Councilmember Jean Godden will be present at the May 2005 dedication ceremony when the statue is installed in Gdynia .

•  Consul General of Poland Krystyna Tokarska-Biernacik will be attending the Reception

•  Box Office: Greg Plichta and Andy Krzyzanowski volunteered to manage. Martha Golubiec is available on second weekend. Sign-up sheet was circulated for persons able to sell/take tickets at the Festival.

•  Festival Promotion: Gail and Barb Wodzin will develop a tri-fold self-mailer with Festival schedule/highlights. Barb Lee will manage the preparation and mailing to Polish community during week of April 18.

•  Final Press Release: Margaret Rzymowska will draft short press releases focusing on the four films with guest directors.

•  Poster Display: Seattle Art Museum will only allow an exhibit during the hours of the Film Festival instead of throughout the week. Therefore Krzysztof has prepared a poster display for showing at the Polish Home over the next several weekends .

•  Treasurer's Report: Treasurer not present to make report.

•  Secretary's Report: Secretary not present to make report.

 

NEW BUSINESS

•  Motion made by A. Okinczyc to allocate $1,000 stipend for expenses incurred by Glen Lee during the May 2005 trade delegation to Gdynia for activities related to business exchange. Motion seconded by Harriet Wodzin and unanimously approved by voice vote.

•  Motion made by Mike Waske to allocate a $100 donation to the Polish Home Foundation in memory of Jadwiga Golubiec. Motion seconded by Carol Forte and unanimously approved by voice vote.

•  Paul Griffin reported on the recent media training seminar held for all Seattle sister city associations that included a panel discussion by key newspaper and television staff Editor and Public Relations Officer John Joly of the Seattle Post Intelligencer and Margaret Larson of the NBC television network.
