    • Call to order @ 7:35 by Glen Lee, President.

    • 25 in attendance.

    OLD BUSINESS

    · T-Shirts: Debra Markert to contact Jeannette Altman to post contest information on website regarding contest for t-shirt design. Debra will also look into alternate graphic design options. Shirt distribution to take place at SGSCA picnic on 7 August.

    • Picnic: Carol Forte received member agreement to reserve Shelter #2 at Lincoln Park for SGSCA picnic on 7 August (SeaFair Weekend).

    · Business Exchange : Takes place 21 – 24 May. Glen Lee has recruited delegates from the Port of Seattle (Mic Dinsmore), Boeing (Dirk Fieldcamp), City of Seattle (Jean Godden, Amiee Strasko), Seattle Trade Development Alliance (Sam Kaplan), and the ALF-CIO (Mike Waske). Additionally, the following SGSCA members will be attending: Martha Golubiec, Paul Griffin, Glen Lee, Karl Stickel, Barb Wodzin, Gail Wodzin, and Harriet Wodzin. Mike has arranged a special viewing of the Solidarity Museum for the group, and Martha will be bringing Solidarity items from Seattle for the museum.

    While there, Glen will:

    · Meet with members to explore further Kashubian exchanges.

    · Meet with the film courier.

    · Discuss possible week-long exchange run by Washington Business Week for 50 or 60 Polish high school aged students.

    · Meet with Judge Grzegorz Kachel

    · Salmon Sculpture: Unveiling is 22 May. Two public affairs officers from the Embassy will be attending the event. Glen has drafted press releases that will be translated. Again, thank you to Louise McDowell for her artistry. Additional thanks to Seattle mayor, Greg Nickels, for his help in this project.

    • Sister City Reception: Held on 27 April.

        • Sister City Association made $15,000 on event.

        • Glen to write thank you to Consul General, Krystyna Tokarska-Biernacik for attending the event and speaking.

        • Polish Home Choir was amazing. Seattle mayor, Greg Nickels, continued to compliment them all the following week!

          • Ron to write check to choir for thank you; to be reimbursed by city.

    · Polish Film Festival: Ran 23, 24 April & 29, 30 April, 1 May at the Seattle Art Museum.

    · Extra-special thank you to Krys Koper for his efforts on bringing this festival together. Thank you to Cindy and Andy Okinczyc for their travels and help as well.

    · Director Janusz Zaorski has volunteered to meet with SGSCA members at the Gdynia Film Festival in September to recommend films and assist in the selection process.

    · Idea of having an award process exclusive to Seattle was introduced. For next year's festival, a jury should be present and vote on best movies, actors, directors, etc. A viewers' choice award is another idea.

    · MOTION: made by Ron Gloubiec that we look into award process (enlist Louise McDowell to create miniature salmon statues for plaques/trophies) and jury operation. Seconded . Passed unanimously.

    · New tradition was started. During the festival, SGSCA collected hand imprints of 3 of the directors: Magdalena Piekorz, Janusz Zaorski and Lech Majewski. Establish a possible “Wall of Fame” at the Polish Home.

    NEW BUSINESS

    • Polish Conference over Labor Day in Scottsdale, Arizona . Rysiek Kott was invited by Consul to attend the event; they are looking for additional SGSCA members to join them.

    • Sister City Conference in July in Spokane, Washington. Open seats are available for this event; interested individuals should contact Glen.

    • New advertisement is needed for the Polish Phone Book. We book a ¼ page ad.

    · MOTION: made to allot $200 for renewal of advertisement. Seconded. Passed unanimously.

    • High school-aged, All-Poland debate club from Gdynia is traveling to Colorado for competition and has requested financial assistance from the SGSCA.

    · MOTION: made by Ron Golubiec to donate $500 for their trip. Seconded. 5 oppositions.

    · MOTION: made to donate an additional $250 on top of the $500 for the group's trip. Seconded. Failed.

    · Will donate $500 to group with stipulation that further funds might be available later in the fiscal year.

    • Ron Golubiec to sign contract with SAS airlines for courier rates from Seattle to Poland for films. Usual rate is approximately $500, negotiated rate will be $2.45/kg.

    • Center of Cultural Exchange contacted SGSCA regarding four Polish students coming to Seattle and looking for host-homes. Glen will run this through the Polish Home for volunteers.

    · Treasurer's Report: with items still left to clear and deposit, current amounts are:

    $5,328.08 = general fund

    - $32.11 = orphanage fund

    $6,376.34 = Film Festival
