MINUTES:

Call to order @ 7:39 by Glen Lee, President.
22 in attendance.
OLD BUSINESS
· T-Shirts: design voted and decided upon. Will distribute shirts to interested members at the Picnic on 7 August.
Picnic: Carol Forte received member agreement to reserve Shelter #2 at Lincoln Park for SGSCA picnic on 7 August (SeaFair Weekend). Picnic will be in pot-luck style, with SGSCA to provide kielbasa.
· Business Exchange Recap : Took place 21 – 24 May. The event was a success, business people and government staff had the opportunity to meet one another; Seattle Chamber of Commerce invited mayor of Gdynia to come to Seattle next year. Major successes included:
· Met with members to explore further Kashubian exchanges.
· Met with the film courier.
· Security at ports discussed.
· Talks for possible Starbuck establishment in Warsaw.
· Seattle Chamber of Commerce invited Mayor of Gdynia to town next year.
· Salmon Sculpture: Unveiling was 22 May. Event was named “Coming Home” and was another success. Statue is located at south end of promenade in Gdynia.
· Kashubian Exchange: There is a traveling Kashubian exhibit. Glen will further speak with mayor and necessary parties regarding having a Northwest Native American display travel to Poland in exchange for the Kashubian exhibit. Prof. Kaczynski will work on gathering information, and will report back to us in September.
SAS Contract: we have new rates negotiated with SAS airlines on bulk freight.
Gdynia Film Festival: Will run 12 – 17 September. If any members are still interested in attending, please contact Cindy Okinczyc.
Solidarity Anniversary: Martha Golubiec was able to arrange a special tour for interested SGSCA members; will run from 27 August through 8 September.
NEW BUSINESS
Book Exchange: Gdynia expressed interest in English novels and books. Barb Wodzin to contact library for possible donations. This might be a good time to put our new SAS contract into play!
Ambassador Reception: Ambassador of Poland is coming to Seattle on 26 July. He will be giving a presentation on the morning of the 26 th , followed by a possible BBQ or reception.
· Motion to allot up to $500 to provide for entertainment.
· Seconded. Passed unanimously.
European Weekly: Possibility of submitting photos and articles to this publication.
· Treasurer's Report: Film Festival generated $774.11 profit. In other financial news:
$4,902.08= general fund
- $32.11 = orphanage fund
$1,427.46 = Film Festival
